A Loving Mother's Schemes

A Mother’s Schemes

After dying amid the schemes of Empresses in the Palace, Cao Qinmo opens her eyes again, only to find herself as Madam Wei in The Story of Minglan, dying in childbirth. The birthing bed is her new battlefield, and there are two lives in her womb she must save. The poison and plots of the imperial palace become schemes in the inner household, and the ruthless self-interest she once wielded turns into a mother’s deep cunning, all devoted to protecting her children. She hides every sharp edge and, in the lowliest position, carves out a safe path for her daughter, Minglan, through the cracks of the Sheng household. She also secures a future for her young son, Changche, one where he can leave and make his own way in the world. This time, she wants no phoenix crown or bridal robes. All she wants is for her children to break free of the confines of the household and live the bright, honorable lives she never got to see.
