Scheming in the Three Kingdoms: Neither Loyal nor Treacherous

Synopsis of *Scheming Through the Three Kingdoms: Neither Loyal nor Treacherous* At the end of the Eastern Han dynasty, the Ten Attendants seize power and throw the court into chaos. Emperor Ling is reduced to a puppet, the Yellow Turban rebellion spreads like wildfire, and the realm lies in ruins. Su Yan, courtesy name Xuanji, is a reclusive scholar from Yingchuan who carries secrets about the Ten Attendants' hidden pieces on the board. His cunning rivals Jia Xu's, and his ruthlessness matches that of the eunuch faction, yet he lies low amid the chaos under the guise of a “reclusive sage.” When Liu Bei, a man without compassion, humbly seeks his help alongside a steady Guan Yu and a Zhang Fei who has given up drinking, Su Yan seizes the opportunity to enter public life. Outwardly, he devises a strategy for Liu Bei to conquer the realm; in truth, he uses the warlords as pieces and the chaotic world as his board, laying a poisonous scheme that spans generations. By now, the game has already been turned upside down: Cao Cao and Sun Quan ally against the Yuan brothers, Zhuge Liang and Pang Tong both serve under Cao Cao, and Lü Bu, having given up women, is unstoppable. The old order has crumbled, and the new landscape is treacherous and unpredictable. Su Yan moves among the various factions, stirring up trouble with the Ten Attendants' intelligence network and breaking alliances through schemes of discord. He uses a feigned sacrifice to win trust, helping Liu Bei gradually seize territory while secretly keeping his ambitions in check. He engages Zhuge Liang and Pang Tong in contests of intellect, all the while seeking an opportunity to bring them under his control. Neither loyal nor treacherous, neither righteous nor compassionate, he is driven by a family blood feud and a thirst for power, making this struggle for supremacy all the more sinister. As warlords vie for power, strategists match wits, and generals shed blood, the established course of eunuch corruption, warlord rivalries, and worthy men choosing their masters is utterly rewritten. The unseen mastermind will ultimately forge a path of calculated schemes to overturn the Han throne, beyond the bounds of loyalty and treachery. Who will have the last laugh? The fate of the realm rests on Xuanji's game.
