He Planted Rice Seedlings in My Heart

The day I married Xu Qingshan, everyone in the village said I was a fool.

All he had was three rundown tiled houses, five acres of dry farmland, and a blind mother.

But they didn’t know that whenever I sneaked out to work the fields at night,

he would silently follow ten paces behind me with a lantern. He’d turned that dry land into a gold mine.

Then, on the night the flood came, he gripped my hand tight and said, “Why are you running? I buried our fortune back on the mountain.”
