The Demon-Suppression Bureau of the Ruined Sea

In the year 217 of the New Era, technology had surpassed incense and worship. Streams of hovercars cleaved the skyline of the ancient city, but whispers still echoed through its narrow alleys.

Shen Mo, a top-of-the-line android dismissed from the police force for an “emotional module malfunction,” is forced to take on the city’s most absurd job, working for the fabled “Special Bureau for Folk Customs Affairs.” His duty is to handle the “things” that cannot be scanned by conventional technology or explained with logical code. Data streams and thousand-year-old demons coexist and intertwine in the same steel jungle.

What his electronic eyes see are not ghosts, but residual strong bioelectric fields and projections of the collective unconscious. What his mechanical fingers touch are not talismans, but abnormal energy fields capable of disrupting precision components. Ancient gods and spirits have reinvented themselves in the cracks of technology, continuing their obsessions and bargains.

From virtual idols that claim lives during livestreams, to homebound spirits that devour dreams through brain-computer interfaces, to ancient statues worshipped by entire groups of android dolls. Shen Mo walks between cold data and scorching ancient taboos, unraveling urban legends with criminal-investigation logic and containing demons with technology. Gradually, he discovers that at the heart of every paranormal incident lies a common data black hole, along with an ancient saying long buried: when steel learns to breathe and code grows a soul, the true “they” will return. The abnormal composite heart beating in his chest may be the only key to unraveling everything, and the key that will summon the ultimate being.
