Reborn at the Grassroots: From Clerk to Local Leader

Armed with 108 livelihood problems he had recorded in his previous life, he sets out to fix them: when renovating unsafe housing, he tears down the homes of the well-connected; when tackling pension scams, he busts the dens protected by powerful backers; when migrant workers are denied wages, he tears up the agreements that let officials pass the buck. He tramps three streets to pieces in his rubber boots and blocks a developer five times with a loudspeaker. Even a reporter from the Yun’an Evening News follows him around, writing, “Is this clerk here to crash the party?” From neighborhood office director to the leader of a region, he measures the hardships of grassroots life with his own footsteps and carves a path to better governance with sheer grit. And while investigating the cause of his death in his previous life, he reunites with his parents amid the tide of the times. It turns out that “serve as an official, benefit the people” is an answer written into his blood.
