Splendid Fortune for a Poor Family: The Yan Family's Rise

[The heroine may not get much of a story early on, so please be patient, everyone!]

A modern family of five unexpectedly transmigrates to ancient times, into a poor family with nothing but four bare walls. With awful relatives and a hellish start, their life is anything but easy.

Yan Chengyuan, once a professor of Chinese literature, has no choice but to pick up his brush and start with the first-level imperial examination, earning his family the dignity of being scholars.

Liu Yunniang, a queen of the restaurant world, uses her miraculous cooking skills to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary. Starting with a single pot and a small stall, she earns her first copper coin.

Their top-student son, Yan Huaiqian, puts his formidable academic abilities to work studying agricultural texts and preparing for the imperial examinations. He is destined to work his way to the top and become the foremost scholar.

Their daughter Yan Ruowei, whose fighting ability is off the charts, protects her family with her fists and will carve out a place for herself through military achievements.

And their mischievous little daughter Yan Qiyi is the clever thread connecting them all. Amidst political intrigue, she also forges a legendary romance with Ye Chenyu, the grandson of Prince Fu, whose true identity is concealed. Their relationship goes from suspicion to love.

This is an epic tale of a family struggling up from the dirt.

It is about a father who perseveres, rising from a poor scholar to the highest ranks of the court;

A mother who transforms from tending the stove to presiding over a business empire;

A brilliant elder brother who turns modern ideas into sound policies for governing the country, and makes his way to a dazzling future;

A chivalrous elder sister who punches her way to fame and becomes a great general;

And a clever younger sister who navigates both the inner household and the imperial court, before finally soaring out into the wider world.

From a thatched hut to a duke’s estate, from the fields to the golden palace.

With knowledge, courage, and the love and support they give one another, they not only rewrite their own fates, but also propel this ancient dynasty to an unprecedented golden age.

A poor family’s splendid legacy begins in humble circumstances and becomes an immortal legend.
