Spy War: The Lonely Boat

In 1939, Shanghai, the "isolated island," thrives grotesquely amid the flames of war, as forces from every side vie fiercely for control.

Chen Mo, a veteran agent of the Military Statistics Bureau, loses contact with his organization after a mission fails under seemingly accidental circumstances. With the Japanese and their puppet regime hunting him relentlessly, he makes a shocking decision: he pretends to defect and infiltrates the Wang Jingwei regime's 76th Secret Service Headquarters.

At the 76th, he is known as "Chen the Hell King." His ruthless methods earn him the admiration of Japanese intelligence chief Isamu Aizawa. But this "admiration" is bought with the blood of his fellow countrymen, and every "achievement" feels like torture to his soul. He walks along the edge of the abyss, striving to win the enemy's absolute trust while enduring insults and assassination attempts from his own side.

Meanwhile, Su Wen, his former lover and an underground Communist Party member, returns to Shanghai on a special mission. The two cross paths again and again, at dance halls and execution grounds. Beneath their probing and suspicion lie a love that has never gone out and a shared faith.

As both the Military Statistics Bureau and the underground Communist organization suffer devastating blows, all the evidence points to Chen Mo as the "number one traitor." He must identify the Japanese master spy "Purple Secret," who is hidden even deeper, while under the guns of his own people, and complete an almost impossible mission: steal the "Jade Shatter Plan," a scheme that could determine China's fate.

This is a solitary dance along a cliff's edge, with lies for dialogue and betrayal for movement. When the dawn of victory finally comes, who will be there to prove his innocence?
