This Monkey’s Surname Is Sun

When I opened my eyes, I saw no heaven or earth, only a floating “Heaven and Earth Essence KPI Assessment Form.”

Later, I figured out what this thing was called: the Heavenly Dao. The Three Realms are just one giant performance management system.

Why did Patriarch Bodhi expel me? That was the last act of mercy the system had left. How did the Book of Life and Death in the Underworld get changed? I wrote myself in as a permanent loophole. Wearing the golden headband and embarking on the pilgrimage? It’s the biggest outsourced KPI project in the Three Realms.

They all say there’s something wrong with me: a data anomaly who keeps asking, “Why?”

Why was I born with an ID number? Why is my immortality just another assignment? Why should your rules get to decide whether I’m right or wrong?

Now I, Sun Wukong, will record it all with this Golden Cudgel that can pierce the heavens and these fiery eyes that see through the rules: I’m not here to seek the scriptures. I’m here to dismantle this system.

If you want to know how a born rebel, a data loophole, can fight for a way to live in a world where everything has been predetermined, then welcome to my performance review. There are no fairy tales here, only the real Journey to the West.
