Disguised as a Man, I Use My Medical Skills to Protect the Sickly Young Lord

After her family of renowned physicians is slaughtered, the only survivor, the genius young woman Su Jinyan, disguises herself as a man and assumes the name “Su Jin” to evade her pursuers and bide her time for revenge. Thanks to her martial arts skills and exceptional medical knowledge, she accidentally becomes the personal guard of Xie Wujiu, heir to the Duke of Zhenguo: a frail, sickly man trapped in a desperate predicament.

At first, the two test each other. Su Jinyan must hide both her identity as a woman and her family’s slaughter, while facing a succession of threats within the duke’s estate, from brothers plotting against one another to a stepmother who feigns kindness to ruin her. She also uses her medical skills to nurse the “sickly heir” back to health and unravel a poisoning plot. Xie Wujiu seems gentle and harmless, but he has long since seen through her disguise. Secretly admiring her strength and talent, he plays along and uses her protection to eliminate his rivals one by one.

As their trust deepens, they become inseparable allies, no longer merely master and servant. Clues to Su Jinyan’s enemies become entangled with the court’s struggle over the succession. To protect her, Xie Wujiu drops his pretense of frailty and reveals his calculating nature and mastery of political intrigue. Together, they face their political foes and bring their schemes to ruin. Su Jinyan’s medical expertise and intelligence become Xie Wujiu’s greatest assets in his rise to power, and as they share life-and-death trials, their feelings for each other grow rapidly. They choose each other, wholeheartedly.

With Xie Wujiu’s help, Su Jinyan uncovers the truth behind her family’s massacre, kills her enemies, and clears her family’s name. She resumes her identity as a woman and dazzles the world. Xie Wujiu, meanwhile, clears every obstacle from his path and gains power over the court. In the end, he offers her an empire as his bride price and marries Su Jinyan, making her empress. Together, they usher in a golden age of peace and prosperity.
