The Wife Strikes Back: The Other Woman Must Be Sterilized Before She Can Marry Him

In 1952, I was a young heiress from a prominent Macau family, yet I willingly gave it all up to marry a poor editor.

I stood by him as he built his career from nothing. Pregnant, I sold newspapers on the street, sold my dowry to found Ming Pao, and endured countless long nights, holding our child in one arm and writing with the other.

I thought we would be like the heroic couple in his stories, spending our lives side by side.

But once he had achieved success and written the martial arts world that captivated countless readers, he turned around and fell in love with a sixteen-year-old restaurant waitress.

He said she was gentle. He said she understood him.

I didn’t make a scene or shed a tear.

I set only one condition: if he wanted a divorce, that woman had to undergo sterilization.

Everyone called me vicious.

But they didn’t know I wasn’t seeking revenge. I was protecting my four children’s right to inherit. That was the last line I would hold as their mother.

He agreed, and she went through with it.

On the day of the divorce, I didn’t shed a single tear. I said only one thing: “Cha Leung-yung, you’ll regret this.”

Later, using the business acumen he had taught me, I built an empire of my own. My fortune was three times his, and my reputation outshone even the martial arts worlds he wrote about.

He created a world of heroes and outlaws on the page. I became a true hero in life.

I am Zhu Mei. I bet my youth on love and won his martial arts world, but I didn’t bet on human nature.

Still, I won the bet on myself.
