At the End of the Sequence Lies the Abyss

Synopsis of The Sequence Ends at the Abyss

In 2077, humanity retreats to six floating cities after the "Great Cataclysm." New Chang'an is one of them. That year, the melting Arctic ice released the Cthulhu-like evil god "Mother of the Abyss." Her mental pollution turned 70% of the world's population into "Mutants." To confront the crisis, humanity awakened three systems of cultivation: martial arts, Sequences, and technology. Meanwhile, a conspiracy to awaken the Mother of the Abyss is quietly taking shape.

The protagonist, Lin Feng, is a senior at New Chang'an No. 7 High School. His Qi and blood value is a mere 300, making him a "good-for-nothing," yet he possesses a rare "dual-system talent": the martial arts trait "Abyss Resistance" and the Sequence trait "Blank Sequence." He can copy other people's abilities, but must bear an immense mental burden. His parents died in a Mutant ambush ten years ago. Suspecting there is more to their deaths, he resolves to enter the Special Operations Bureau through the martial arts college entrance exam and uncover the truth.

During a martial arts mock exam, Lin Feng is provoked and badly injured by Zhao Lei, whose Qi and blood value is 780. At the brink of defeat, he triggers "Blank Sequence," copies Zhao Lei's "Thunder Fist," and turns the tables. This draws the attention of Su Muyao, a liaison officer from the Special Operations Bureau. Su Muyao tells him about the dangers and potential of his talent, recommends that he take part in the reserve selection, and warns him not to use his ability lightly. Anonymous threats soon follow, hinting that his talent is connected to the Abyss.

Lin Feng meets Xia Wanqing, a girl with the "Prophecy Sequence," and learns that his parents' deaths were connected to the "Abyssal Cult," a group that worships evil gods. She also predicts that a massacre will take place at the Central Library in three days. The two go there to stop it, only to encounter a core member of the cult, the Sequence 4 "Devourer," Bone-Eater. At the critical moment, Su Muyao and a former Special
