Entangled at First Meeting, Ashes Remain

To repay the debt her older brother had incurred and clear part of her family’s name, Jiang Liyun is forced to take a job as a maid in the home of Shen Zhiyan, the man in charge of the Shen Group. After his younger sister died in an accident years ago, Shen Zhiyan decided that the Jiang family had played an indirect role in her death. He makes life difficult for Jiang Liyun at every turn and keeps her under close control. Yet in their daily interactions, he can’t help being moved by her patience, kindness, and resilience. He quietly helps her out of trouble, but never lets a trace of warmth show.

When Shen Zhiyan’s business rivals realize he has a soft spot for Jiang Liyun, they forge evidence to frame her for leaking company secrets. At the same time, “new evidence” about the death of Shen Zhiyan’s sister comes to light, and it all points to Jiang Liyun’s father as the mastermind. Under the blow of both developments, Shen Zhiyan completely loses control and imprisons Jiang Liyun. His verbal humiliation and emotional torment gradually extinguish the last of her hopes for him.

In despair, Jiang Liyun discovers she is pregnant. She resolves to escape for the sake of her child, but Shen Zhiyan catches her and brings her back. Using the child as leverage, he forces Jiang Liyun to stay by his side, driving their relationship into an even deeper deadlock. Not long afterward, Jiang Liyun unexpectedly finds crucial evidence proving her father’s innocence. Just as she is about to clear everything up with Shen Zhiyan, he learns that his rival plans to kill her. To keep her safe, he deliberately drives her away with cruel words, making her believe that she has always been nothing more than his “tool” for taking revenge on the Jiang family.

The rival’s assassins arrive as expected. Shen Zhiyan is gravely wounded protecting Jiang Liyun, yet even before losing consciousness, he is still saying, “Don’t ever appear in front of me again,”
