Anatomy of a Crime of Passion

At crime scenes, the silent testimony of the dead points to the truth, while concealing the deepest secrets.

The chief forensic examiner, Yi Rongchuan, is calm and rational, and believes firmly in the power of evidence. Her assistant, Yan Guifeng, is gentle and attentive, and the person she trusts most at her side. Together, their team is dedicated to speaking for the dead.

Yet behind a series of flawless "suicides" lurks a phantom killer known as "Phantom Shadow." As Yi Rongchuan investigates, she discovers that the killer's blade is gradually turning toward those closest to her. She has no idea that the "Phantom Shadow" who makes her wary is none other than Yan Guifeng, who guards her day and night.

Yan Guifeng's killings stem from a desire for revenge born of a twisted childhood, as well as a pathological need to protect Yi Rongchuan. When the real culprit behind the murder of Yi Rongchuan's grandmother appears, Yan Guifeng exacts revenge through vigilantism, forcing Yi Rongchuan to face the truth: she must make her final choice between justice under the law and a twisted, consuming love.

This is a forbidden romance blooming among corpses, and a profound interrogation of love and sin, justice and redemption.
