He Ran to Me, Then Died in the Midsummer Heat

[Sweet Campus Romance] + [Kind Lies] + [BE]

On the day the college entrance exams ended, Xie Xuanci held me close and made a promise in my ear: “Tomorrow at three in the afternoon, meet me at our usual place. We’ll celebrate the future that belongs to us.”

I believed him.

He was the only light in my bleak world. This boy, radiant as the sun, would shield me from the rain, clumsily bring me candy, and take my hand in front of everyone, defying the whole world for me.

We promised to attend the same university and build a little home of our own in an unfamiliar city.

I thought we’d won.

But I waited from three in the afternoon until the sun set at dusk.

The one who arrived wasn’t the boy I loved. It was a call from the hospital that shattered my world in an instant.

It turned out that the road he was running down to reach me didn’t lead to me at all. It led to the end of his life.
