Reborn: The Legend of Emei Peak

In the spring of 1946, the situation at Tianjin Station was fraught with hidden dangers. Ji Liang, reborn and operating under the codename “Emei Peak,” went undercover as an employee of the Central Trust Bureau. His goal was to get close to Su Manli, the station chief’s wife, and steal the Kuomintang’s North China contact list. However, Li Ya, an operations captain with the Military Statistics Bureau, grew suspicious of “Emei Peak’s” identity and began investigating. Ji Liang had to contend with Li Ya’s relentless pursuit while also learning to work with the intelligence department chief, his fellow member of the “Deep Sea” group, who maintained contact with him through a separate channel.

Ji Liang’s fixation on his brother Lin Chuan, who had sacrificed his life, often left him torn between emotion and reason during operations. Before his death, his brother had entrusted vital intelligence to the intelligence department chief, asking him to pass it on to “Emei Peak.” This became the driving force behind Ji Liang’s mission. While he was trying to obtain the list, Li Ya intercepted a fragment of an encoded telegram and pinpointed “Emei Peak” to the Trust Bureau. At the critical moment, the intelligence department chief deliberately made a mistake and assigned Ji Liang to the archives, helping him destroy the evidence and get close to the safe.

Ji Liang successfully photographed the list, but every victory came with bitterness, and the deaths of his comrades pained him deeply. After the mission succeeded, Li Ya surrounded the place with his men, and the intelligence department chief exposed himself to cover Ji Liang’s escape. Clutching his brother’s pocket watch, Ji Liang knew that the road of “Emei Peak” would be long. Carrying on his comrades’ legacy, he would continue his undercover work at the perilous Tianjin Station and fight for the revolutionary cause.
