The Legend of Heroic Goudan

The story follows Goudan, a foot soldier who grows up amid the chaos of war, laughing and joking along the way. He forges bonds of brotherhood with Huajuan, a healer; Ergou, his sworn brother; and Old Xu, a wise man. Goudan only wants to scrape by and stay alive, but he gets swept into a power struggle that will determine the fate of the land. With General Hu San closing in at every turn, Goudan relies on humor, wit, and teamwork with his friends to escape danger time and again, never missing a chance to poke fun at himself even in a crisis. The four volumes cover his experiences joining the army, redemption in a besieged city, flight amid upheaval, and the dust finally settling. Each builds on the last, following the central thread of war while blending intense clashes with lighthearted scenes from everyday life. In the end, Goudan longs for peace and brings his legend to a close with a wry quip. The turbulent age grows calm, but his laughter still echoes across the martial world.
