Hunting Killers in Painted Worlds

Li Ange, a socially anxious restorer of ancient paintings, has a secret no one knows: he can touch an old painting and send his consciousness into the scene where it was created, sensing every emotion carried by its brushwork and ink. This ability is a curse, forcing him to bear the joys and sorrows of a thousand years until Jiang Shubai, a criminal investigation captain, comes to him with an unsolved case. The police discover human tissue from a murder victim who died three years ago in the pigments of the national treasure, A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains. When science proves powerless in the face of the inexplicable, Jiang Shubai, who has always trusted logic and physical evidence, has no choice but to seek help from Li Ange's inexplicable power of “empathy.” One is a detective in the world of paintings, able to uncover truths buried by time; the other is an anchor in reality, defending order amid the fog. Forced to work together, they discover that a mysterious organization is hiding behind the cases, one capable of using, and even creating, “murder paintings.” And Li Ange's past is unexpectedly bound to it all... The truth lies hidden deep in the ink. They must enter paintings spanning a thousand years and pursue a cruel conspiracy that moves between past and present, amid emotional storms and deadly threats in the real world.
