Back to 1977: I Got Rich Farming by Taking It Easy

Mopan Valley is a poor village tucked away in the mountains, where generations have made a living growing sweet potatoes. Xu Qingshan, a farmer unwilling to let his fellow villagers remain trapped in a barren backwater, sets out on an improbable entrepreneurial journey with a steaming bowl of sweet potato noodles. From a ramshackle handmade noodle workshop to a modern agricultural conglomerate, from muddy village roads to a national agricultural park, he overcomes a lack of funding, weathers slander and malicious competition, and resists the temptations of the capital markets. His “lazy philosophy” of “avoiding unnecessary labor” helps him steer clear of countless detours. His old companions stay by his side, safeguarding the foundations of quality with their experience. The next generation, full of energy, opens up new horizons with internet-savvy thinking. And he and his wife stand united, donating their shares to establish a foundation that gives back to rural education and agricultural technology. This is an entrepreneurial epic about rural revitalization, and a long ballad of perseverance and legacy. See how Xu Qingshan, with the air of a “lazy man,” grows a legend of wealth from the yellow earth, living by the simple belief that “only those who remember their original purpose can see things through,” and sending the fragrance of Mopan Valley's sweet potatoes far beyond its borders.
