A Pot of Wine Through Wind and Rain

The story takes place in a fictional ancient world, where a century-old dynasty is beset by troubles at home and abroad, and undercurrents roil through the martial world. Gu Xingzhou, a scholar from humble beginnings, is swept into turmoil by a strange case. Along the way, he meets Shen Wushuang, a powerful figure from the capital; Su Mingyao of the northern frontier; Zhang Sanhu of the martial world; and other companions. Their intersecting stories cover power struggles at court, battles along the border, collusion among martial factions, and family revenge. Across three volumes, they uncover long-hidden historical truths and the enmities that have shaped their country. The protagonists experience growth, loss, courage, and redemption, until each finds a place of their own. The book is crisp and briskly paced, with a tightly woven plot that still leaves room for humor. Full of twists and turns, it intersperses smaller stories with the main plot and builds through three volumes to a complete, climactic finale.
