Zhuang Hai was raised from childhood by his maternal grandmother in the countryside, after his parents left him in her care. After graduating from a finance school with a technical secondary diploma, he was assigned to work at the Jiaodaokou Subdistrict Office in Dongcheng District, within the capital's Fourth Ring, as a trainee accountant in the Finance and Grain Office. By a strange coincidence, his parents were residents of Courtyard No. 95 on Nanluoguxiang, which fell under that same subdistrict office. So he moved into Courtyard No. 95 too, and began his legendary career in the great courtyard. All characters and content in this book are fictional.
