I Only Failed the Civil Service Exam, So How Did I End Up Ruling the Underworld?

Chen Mo is the black sheep of a family obsessed with civil service careers. On yet another night of failing an interview and being mocked by his relatives until he loses all hope, he is forcibly bound to the Underworld HR System!

[Beginner Mission: Recruit S-rank candidate Wei Xueyuan as a Black Impermanence within one hour. Fail, and your soul will be annihilated!]

To stay alive, Chen Mo kicks open the top student’s door and slaps the Black Impermanence Job Description in his face. “Listen, I represent the Underworld, and I’m offering you a job with a permanent post!”

When evil spirits come to claim their lives, he drags the terrified student in front of him as a human shield and roars, “See that? That’s your future client! Are you signing or not? If you don’t, we’re both becoming a midnight snack!”

While everyone else is still hard at work cultivating their magic, Chen Mo’s approach has gone completely off the rails:

Trying to persuade evil spirits? He hits them with a full barrage of talent-recruitment tactics, conning them into lining up to be reincarnated, just so they can drive a Ferrari in their next life.

A Taoist priest wants to exorcise demons? Chen Mo pulls out the Employee Management Handbook. “Resisting law enforcement? Obstructing Underworld business? Believe me, one call to Heaven’s Disciplinary Office and I’ll have your sect without incense offerings for three hundred years!”

He runs into a down-and-out Earth God? Grasping the god’s hand, he laments, “You’ve had it rough, old-timer! Come work for me! We’ll turn your shrine into the South City Rebirth Passage Service Center, and I’ll put in a request for you to get performance bonuses!”
