Reborn in a Chaotic Age: The Code

In an ancient world consumed by the flames of war, Protagonist 1 and Protagonist 2 are both common-born youths with the lofty ambition of changing the world through a code of laws. The old aristocracy at court will do anything to block their reforms and protect its own interests. If they fail, the realm will remain mired in chaos, and the people will never know peace. The protagonists lack connections and resources, and the old aristocrats slander them, leaving them misunderstood by all. Betrayal by a trusted confidant from a previous life also leaves them struggling to trust others. But armed with the memories gained when they were reborn, they hold fast to the justice of the law code amid bitter struggles and agonizing choices. In the end, they successfully implement the code and change the course of a chaotic age, but at the cost of a dear friend's life.
