Island Nation, 1992: Starting Out as a Director

Gu Chuan transmigrates to an island nation after its economic bubble bursts. In an era when no one knows what tomorrow will bring, he takes up directing. That’s not all. He also wants to lead the people of this island nation out of their misery, but somehow things don’t go as planned. The people cry and curse: “That guy Gu Chuan is no human! Every bit of our misery is his doing!” Fan Daiai: “I have the most right to speak on this. My dad never used to gamble, and my mom wasn’t sick. But Gu Chuan set my dad up and got him addicted to gambling, made my mom so angry she fell ill, then forced broken-down me to enter the film industry…” Gu Chuan: “That’s slander! Watch it, or I’ll sue you for defamation!” The people: “Gu Chuan is a top university graduate, yet he doesn’t want to use his knowledge to change our island nation’s fate. What a despicable man!” Gu Chuan: “I can just solve problems. That doesn’t mean I know how to be a decent person.” The people: “Heavens, why must a demon like this torment us?” Gu Chuan: “Don’t rush to complain. This is only the beginning…” This blurb doesn’t do the story justice. Read the novel to find out more!
