I’m the Contaminant Manager at the Folk Customs Committee

Urban suspense + folk horror + contrasts within the public sector + patriotic power fantasy: I Work as a "Filth" Handler for the Folk Customs Committee Other people take exams to get civil service jobs. I got in by drafting official red-stamped documents for containing filthy objects. Then my boss dumped a stack of top-secret files on my desk: [Red Shoes]: Wear them and you'll dance until you die. Containment method: Get them dirty. [Ghost Abacus]: Move its beads and it steals your lifespan. Containment method: Beat it at mental arithmetic. [Bloody Jade Bangle]: Wear it and your blood relatives will turn on each other. Containment method: Issue it a ticket. My recently awakened [Truth-Piercing Eyes] can see through every one of their murderous rules. I thought it was just an ordinary civil service job, using official seals and regulations to deal with some items that defied science. Then the qipao I had contained embroidered a line in blood: "Greetings, Scavenger." A glamorous expert was suddenly transferred in from headquarters. She told me that my parents had once been the center's chief researchers, and their disappearance was connected to a madman called "the King." My eyes are the key to stopping him from tearing apart reality and remaking the world. My KPI has changed: As long as I keep my civil service position, I have to follow the clues my parents left behind and "file away" the madman who wants to become a god, along with his entire organization.
