All the powers of the world of Aitra are condensed into Contract Cards. Some use them to summon flames, others to forge pacts with dragons, and some can even alter the weather or reverse life and death. But after the Card Cataclysm a century ago, half of the ancient cards vanished, and the families of the Sealmasters, who wielded the highest powers, were nearly wiped out.
Lin En, a boy mocked as the “Unmarked,” has been able to use only one bronze card since childhood, and it cannot be activated. But while fleeing one day, he accidentally awakens the soul sleeping within it: a Rune Echo from before the cataclysm, and the only being who knows the secret of the “Blank Throne.” Meanwhile, the girl Yilaina, hailed as the rightful heir to the Sacred Seal, is searching for the missing Origin Card under the weight of her family’s mission. Instead, she discovers that the secret her family has guarded was the very spark that set off the cataclysm.
When Lin En’s “Remnant Seal Card” resonates with Yilaina’s “Sacred Seal Card,” the two are forced to team up. They cross a cursed forest, face deadly trials at the Card Academy, and fight the “Dark Seal Order,” which seeks to seize the throne. Gradually, they uncover the truth: Contract Cards are not a power created by humanity at all, but “chains of law” left to the world by ancient gods. The true master of the Blank Throne will determine whether the world of Aitra survives or is destroyed.
