The male lead, Lin Feng, was taken to Yunwu Mountain by a mysterious master when he was young. In that isolated place, he studied under several extraordinary teachers.
His first master, Xuan Feng, was a grandmaster of martial arts. He taught Lin Feng top techniques from various schools, including Shaolin Arhat Fist and Wudang Tai Chi. Every move contained the underlying principles of heaven and earth. Before dawn each day, Lin Feng would practice his horse stance and punches on the mountaintop in the biting wind. His clothes grew soaked with sweat, and in the depths of winter, steam rose from his body. After years of arduous training, every punch he threw carried astonishing force.
His master of medicine, Su Wen, was proficient in traditional Chinese medicine and esoteric healing techniques. He could cure stubborn illnesses with nothing more than a silver needle and a few herbs, and also knew an ancient method for prolonging life. Lin Feng often followed him deep into the mountains to gather herbs, learning to identify the properties of thousands of medicinal plants as well as how to prepare and combine them. He could spot the root cause of a patient's illness at a glance, and wielded needles and medicine with effortless precision.
His master of the occult, Elder Tianji, knew the heavens above and the earth below, and was an expert in feng shui, divination, and physiognomy. At the mountaintop observatory, Lin Feng watched the stars at night alongside the old man and learned the movements of the celestial charts and the changes in the hexagrams. He learned how to alter the flow of energy through feng shui arrangements and predict fortune and misfortune through divination.
Though training on Yunwu Mountain was grueling, Lin Feng's life there was peaceful and carefree. Then a mysterious letter shattered that calm. The masters received it, and its contents made their expressions turn grave. It turned out that a tremendous secret lay behind Lin Feng's birth. His family had once been a renowned clan in the martial world, but schemers framed them and slaughtered the entire family. Only Lin Feng was rescued by a powerful master. Now his family's enemies had grown even stronger, and a greater conspiracy was brewing. Lin Feng bore the mission of clearing his family's name and restoring its former glory.
