A Journey Through the Apocalypse

In the late Ming and early Qing, amid constant warfare, ordinary people struggle to survive in a world on the brink of collapse. Their paths cross while fleeing in the wake of a military disaster. Lin Qi steals grain to feed his family, He Xiaoyu gets caught up in the chaos while chasing a debt, Cao Sanniang sells herbal medicine to save lives and accidentally adopts Mingzhu, Jin Shaoqing makes up jokes as he runs for his life, and Dong Pangzi rallies people to save themselves with humor. The group forms a makeshift band, moving between a collapsing government, scattered troops, and bands of rebels. Their paths intertwine and diverge as they witness friendship, love, and family amid hardship and absurdity, and experience both loss and gain. Through a multifaceted narrative, each person finds redemption amid self-mockery, laughter, and tears. And as their homeland is utterly destroyed, an epic tale of ordinary people is born.
