Zhao Lingshuang, a modern female special forces soldier, triggers a System during a counterterrorism mission and transmigrates to the anti-Japanese battlefield in Jinchaji in 1938. She helps a guerrilla unit break through enemy lines and counterattack, then destroys a Japanese ammunition depot. But because her identity is unclear and her tactics are bizarre, a special envoy expels her.
Later, with a local villager's help, she joins forces with more than a dozen descendants of hunters, patriots skilled at tracking and familiar with the terrain, all bent on revenge. Together, they form the "Death-Defying Anti-Japanese Squad." They integrate modern special forces tactics into guerrilla warfare, storm blockhouses and intercept supply routes. Using a System defense map, they strike an enemy airfield and destroy three aircraft. The name "Lingshuang" strikes fear into the Japanese and their collaborators.
News of the squad's victories reaches the Eighth Route Army headquarters, where it draws the attention of the commander-in-chief and earns the unit a place in the army. Using the System, Zhao Lingshuang foils a Japanese chemical weapons conspiracy, storms an enemy command post during the Hundred Regiments Offensive, and trains a new generation of modern combat specialists. In the end, she leads her squad through to victory in the War of Resistance, forging a patriotic epic with their blood and courage.
