Wind Howls Across the Nine Heavens: The Exiled Princess's Quest to Restore Her Kingdom

Transmigration + princess + premium novel + historical romance

Princess Qin Shiyao of Southern Chu witnesses a coup during a palace banquet in the imperial capital. After seeing her parents die for their country, she is captured and exiled to Hanzhou in the northern frontier. In her darkest hour, she merges with the consciousness of a modern elite. Using her knowledge of hygiene and rudimentary medicine, she establishes herself in a penal camp, wins over Zhao Tiezhu, Mo Chen, and others, and forms the Seven Stars Alliance. Together, they establish a secret base called the “Spark of Restoration.”

Later, she uses the Yaoguang Trading House as a front to amass wealth, allies with the tribes of the southern frontier, and takes on rebellious pirates. As her reputation grows, she seizes the opportunity while Great Zhou defends its northern border against foreign tribes and the Central Plains lie undefended. Swearing to raise an army, she leads the Phoenix Soaring Army to capture city after city, reclaim Jinling, and establish herself as ruler.

During her northern campaign, she and Xie Yunshen, a supporter of Great Zhou, go from growing close to falling out, then join forces to foil the Xiao clan’s plot to usurp the throne and bring Great Zhou to an end. Qin Shiyao ascends the throne as the new empress of Chu, introduces reforms, puts down revolts by the aristocratic clans, and later personally leads an expedition to crush the northern tribes before marrying Xie Yunshen. At last, she gazes down upon the flourishing capital and, as an emperor, witnesses the splendor of her realm, completing her transformation from princess of a fallen kingdom to founding empress.
