Synopsis of The Veteran's Unfinished Requiem

Veteran Li Weiguo returns from the battlefield to his hometown, carrying the shadow of war with him. Facing his wife, Wang Fang, and their son, Xiao Qiang, he feels both hopeful and uneasy. Haunted by nightmares and guilt over witnessing a fellow soldier die without being able to save him, he struggles with PTSD. He grows distant from his family, has trouble finding work, and even loses control of his emotions. At Wang Fang's insistence, he begins therapy, then reconnects with his old comrade Zhang Qiang and joins a veterans' support group. Along the way, Xiao Qiang makes an effort to understand him, and the warmth of his family supports him as he tries to heal by writing his wartime memoirs. Gradually, he learns to forgive himself. Later, his community service earns him recognition. He overcomes his anxiety to give a speech, and inspires others to pay attention to veterans' issues. In the end, Li Weiguo emerges from the shadows, rebuilds his close relationship with his family, finds inner peace, and begins a hopeful new life.
