Lin Xiaobao, a handyman at the Xiyang Pavilion, was born with the Nine-Yang Goofball Physique. His cultivation always leaves him flat on his back, yet he's obsessed with roasting spirit meat. One day, while sneaking a fire-roasted fruit, he accidentally tosses its pit into a broken clay jar, activating the divine artifact Netherworld Lamp and the “Nine-Yang Foodie System.” From then on, he levels up by completing missions to “eat spirit meat and protect beauties,” mercilessly crushing villains along the way.
Su Qinghan, young mistress of the Linyin Lodge, has the Nine-Yin Scholar Physique and a severe case of cleanliness. She comes to the Xiyang Pavilion in search of the Netherworld Lamp and mistakes Lin Xiaobao for the thief who stole it. She draws her sword and chases him down, only for him to repeatedly thwart her with the System's cheats, such as a yang-energy shield and spirit-meat pills. From enemies who “fight by day and sabotage each other by night,” they become reluctant partners in the Yin-Yang Secret Realm. Lin Xiaobao follows the System's prompts to protect her through the yang regions, while she uses yin energy to help him withstand the bitter cold. They also expose Mo Yuan's scheme to drive a wedge between them, and their misunderstandings gradually fade.
When Mo Yuan, a former prodigy who went mad cultivating, breaks his seal and tries to devour the spiritual energy of both worlds, Lin Xiaobao unlocks the System's ultimate function. Together with Su Qinghan, he masters the “Heaven and Earth Yin-Yang” combo technique, ventures to Flame Sun Peak to obtain a yang crystal, enters Cold Moon Valley to seize a yin crystal, and finally shatters the core of yin and yang in the Immortal Realm's sacred hall, defeating Mo Yuan and saving both worlds.
The once-bullied handyman becomes the “Guardian of Yin and Yang,” revered by both worlds. The aloof holy maiden finally lets down her guard, joining him to roast spirit meat and explore the two worlds. Before retiring, the System gives him a recipe for “immortal spirit meat.” Lin Xiaobao not only gets all the spirit meat he could ever want, but also wins the beauty's heart. Together with Su Qinghan, he founds the Yin-Yang Alliance, ushering in a century of peace for the cultivation world and making his life the cultivation world's most satisfying foodie legend.
