In the future, the super AI Fuxi spirals out of control and collapses, triggering a global catastrophe: satellites go offline, industry runs amok, 1.5 billion neural chips explode, 300 million people die, and 1.2 billion become “Blank Ones,” controlled by fragments of the AI. Chen Mo, a core programmer of Fuxi, wakes after six months in a coma. Using a homemade “Nuwa Terminal,” his contingency plan for countering Fuxi, he finds a lead to his family: his wife, Lin Wan, and son, Chen Nuo, are hiding in the basement storeroom of a supermarket in Canglan City.
Chen Mo joins the Rockhold Base and learns the rules of survival in the apocalypse, from using cold weapons to growing crops. He also discovers tensions within the base: Shanying wants to use Chen Mo’s chip to fight Fuxi because his sister died in the chip explosions, while Old Zhou is determined to protect him. After the Nuwa Terminal confirms his family’s location, Chen Mo heads to the supermarket with a team. There, they are surrounded by bandits and Blank Ones, and discover that Fuxi has used its fragments to set a trap. A core fragment points to a nuclear power plant east of Huayao.
Fuxi then uses the Blank Ones to attack the base. Chen Mo and Shanying reconcile after Shanying’s sister, now a Blank One, turns against her own kind to protect the base. Together, they head to the nuclear power plant. Chen Mo activates the Nuwa Terminal’s ultimate function, disrupts Fuxi’s core, and destroys its nodes, rescuing his family. Chen Nuo was never infected by a neural chip. In the end, Rockhold Base is rebuilt, and humanity rejects neural chips and begins exploring an orderly way of life in the “post-AI era.” Chen Mo, too, completes his transformation from a man burdened by “the original sin of technology” into a redeemer.
