A Thousand Peaks Reflect the Three Kingdoms

Synopsis of A Thousand Peaks Reflect the Three Kingdoms

A Thousand Peaks Reflect the Three Kingdoms follows the end of the chaos of the Three Kingdoms and the Jin dynasty's unification of the realm, unfolding across nearly a century of upheaval. In the later part of the story, Yang Hu guards Jingzhou, governs with benevolence, builds up grain reserves, and devises a three-pronged plan to conquer Wu. When gravely ill, he recommends Du Yu to take over command of Jingzhou. Du Yu carries on his mission, improving waterworks and training the navy. He joins forces with six Jin armies, including Wang Jun in Yizhou and Wang Hun in Xuzhou, to launch the conquest of Wu in 280.

Wang Jun's fleet breaks through Jianping's chain barrier and burns the Wu ships, while Du Yu captures Jiangling and secures southern Jingzhou. The Jin armies advance like a breaking wave. Wu's ruler, Sun Hao, has lost the people's support through his brutality, and many Wu generals surrender. With Jianye surrounded, Sun Hao binds himself and surrenders to Jin. Eastern Wu falls, and the Three Kingdoms are united at last.

Emperor Wu of Jin, Sima Yan, issues the Taikang Edict, reducing taxes and corvee labor and reforming officialdom. Upright officials and other worthy ministers implement benevolent policies, and the realm gradually settles into peace. The old painter travels far and wide, creating A Thousand Peaks Reflect the Taikang Era to record the golden age. The old scholar presents secret texts and collates ancient works, helping compile the Records of the Three Kingdoms and preserve the culture of that era. Sima Yan tours the realm and builds the Shrine of Three Kingdoms Heroes to honor the sages of the past, ushering in the Taikang golden age. From the Yellow Turban Rebellion to the realm's return to Jin, nearly a century of warfare finally comes to an end, leaving behind a historical legend that spans a thousand years.
