Greetings, My Lord Sovereign

In the Kingdom of Gaochang, Li Ran is forty-five years old when his first wife suddenly dies of an illness. While he is grieving, his grandfather tells him that a childhood betrothal was arranged for him, though Li Ran had never taken it seriously. He hears that the girl has gone to university, and his grandfather tells him to go meet her. Li Ran pays it little mind, but one day, by chance, he meets Xia Zhiyi in the rain. She is the woman promised to him, and the two get to know each other. After going through a number of things together, she becomes his assistant for three months and helps him deal with the political enemies who are trying to hurt him. She is so clever and perceptive that, little by little, he falls in love with her. But Li Ran still dies in the political struggle, and Xia Zhiyi bravely raises their child on her own.
