Record of Good Intentions: The Wheel of Karma

Good Thoughts: The Wheel of Karma traces the intertwined existence of good thoughts and karmic ties across a ten-volume epic of reincarnation. From the dawn of primordial chaos, the moment a glimmer of goodness touches a thread of karma, the two are destined to grow entangled over countless lifetimes. The story unfolds from the naive guardianship of plants, insects, fish, and beasts in the primordial wilderness, through the choices between good and evil made by ancient shamans, to the contest between the Way and human feeling in the age of sages. The three-lifetime romance between Xuan Chen, the Immortal Emperor of the Celestial Court, and Ling Xi becomes a pivotal trial: the forbidden spark of their first meeting between immortal and mortal, the push and pull of love and hate as adversaries in the demon realm, and the duty and devotion of an emperor in the mortal world all force goodness to break free of attachment and awaken amid the struggle between rules and emotions. The westward journey of Buddhism and Daoism reveals the true meaning of salvation, while the clashes in the demon realm show glimmers of light in the darkness. At last, amid the countless faces of mortal life, the truth emerges: goodness is no rigid doctrine, but a choice made amid everyday necessities; love is no shackle, but the original desire to protect. In the final volume, good thoughts and karmic ties merge into the Mirror of Karma, suspended above the cycle of reincarnation. Guided by the memories of countless lifetimes, it casts a ray of one’s true heart at the moment each soul must choose. Reincarnation never ceases, and the seeds of goodness, carried along by karma, continue to flourish through light and shadow.
