Realism. The only defining feature of this book is that it’s “real,” so real it’s almost unbearable. Whether it’s well written is hard to say, because a defining feature isn’t necessarily a virtue, just as a house specialty isn’t necessarily delicious. And don’t ask whether the protagonist has questionable morals, because the author hasn’t applied a beauty filter to himself.
