Echoes of the End: After the Forbidden Sequence Is Leaked

The Echoes of the End: After the Forbidden Sequence Leaks tells the suspenseful coming-of-age story of Lin Mo, an archivist in the Steam Age. While burning forbidden documents, he activates a mysterious pocket watch and is drawn into a series of murders connected to the "Forbidden Sequence." He discovers that every victim has the same kind of pocket watch embedded in their body, and that he himself is Sequence 7, the "Lamplighter." He must solve cases by turning back time to stay alive, at the cost of his body gradually becoming mechanical.

As the investigation deepens, Lin Mo forms a temporary alliance with Su Wanqing, an ancient-book restorer who can manipulate "threads of fate," and Zhao Tieshan, a hot-tempered detective. Together, they uncover the truth behind the "Great Purge" of 1899: the supernatural sequences are actually the products of experiments conducted as part of the "Echoes of the End" project. Every case conceals a temporal anomaly: a clockmaker's heart replaced with gears, an opera singer aging in an instant, train passengers dying over and over at the same moment. And the true identity of the mysterious villain known as the "Clockmaker" points to Lin Mo's altered childhood memories.

The story unfolds in episodic arcs, with one case every eight chapters. The clues connect the organizational struggle between the "Order of Time," which guards the natural order, and the "Secret Eaters," who plunder abilities. Lin Mo struggles between losing his humanity and uncovering the truth: when time becomes a prison, the price of lighting the darkness may be becoming the prisoner most in need of salvation. In the end, he must choose between "restarting the timeline" and "destroying the sequence system." And deep inside the pocket watch, the true purpose of the "Echoes of the End" is only just beginning to emerge.
