Brilliant from childhood, the Yellow Emperor witnessed the suffering of his people and resolved to study medicine. He became Qibo's disciple, personally tasted countless herbs, and studied yin-yang and the Five Elements. To further his knowledge, he traveled far and wide, learning the strengths of medical practices from every region. Later, he sought the Way from Guang Chengzi on Mount Kongtong, refining the philosophical foundations of traditional Chinese medicine.
