Spy Shadows: The Hourglass

In 1938, deadly traps lurk beneath the neon lights of Shanghai’s French Concession. Lu Chen, a top agent of the Military Statistics Bureau, is surrounded after a traitor betrays him during Operation Scorpion. On the brink of death, he unexpectedly awakens the ability known as the Time Hourglass, which lets him send his consciousness back to a crucial moment ten minutes earlier. Armed with this secret weapon, he becomes a player who walks a knife’s edge: in a Japanese Kempeitai torture chamber, he uses three rewinds to spot flaws in their methods; at a cocktail party hosted by the Wang Jingwei regime, he intercepts an assassination code by exploiting the time gap; and amid the artillery fire of the Battle of Shanghai, he uses minute-by-minute calculations to change the course of the fighting.

But he soon discovers that every rewind consumes his life force, and the mysterious Ghost Organization lurking in the shadows is not only hunting him, but coveting the earth-shattering secret behind the hourglass. As suspicion from the Bureau, probing from the underground resistance, and a Japanese military manhunt all close in, Lu Chen grips his burning pocket watch. “This time, I’ll make every traitor and invader fall into time’s prison!”
