Kunlun Ruins: Divine Awakening in the Fifth Era

After a rough heartbreak, Liang Liang, a young city dweller known as Liangzi, sets out on a self-driving trip to Tibet, hoping to cleanse his soul. But at Kunlun Pass, a sudden, severe bout of altitude sickness plunges him into a dream so vivid and bizarre it feels utterly real.

In the dream, a shadow with a human head and a serpent’s body reveals the ultimate truth buried beneath the river of time: the universe is a giant hourglass, cycling endlessly between expansion and contraction. In Earth’s 4.6-billion-year history, humanity is already the fifth civilization. In the previous “Water Era,” a film of water covered the sky screen, giant beasts roamed the land, and ancestors resembling Fuxi and Nuwa lived alongside dragons, Qiongqi, and other wondrous creatures. A meteor strike unleashed a world-ending flood, splitting the continents and toppling civilization. The survivors used their supreme wisdom to alter genes and create a new generation of humans, burying sparks of knowledge, including the Eight Trigrams and the Hetu and Luoshu diagrams, deep in the genes of the ancestors of Huaxia. The so-called war between gods and demons was nothing more than a brutal struggle for survival among genetically engineered beings.

Liangzi jolts awake, only to be horrified as reality begins to intertwine strangely with his dream. His navigation system fails, and the familiar mountain road becomes unfamiliar, as if it had existed since time immemorial. Through the dizziness of altitude sickness, the shadow with the human head and serpent’s body seems to be watching him from outside the car window...

He thinks it was only a dream, unaware that he has become the “key” connecting two eras. His consciousness is about to transmigrate through the barriers of time and space, plunging fully into that grand ancient age where gods and demons rose together. He will witness firsthand the dawn of human civilization in the Fifth Era, lift the veil on myth, confront the truth of the primordial world, and search for his own purpose and place amid the crises of two worlds.
