I Just Passed the Palace Exam, but My Daily Resignation Requests Made Me Chancellor

Overworked office drone Wang Hengliu dies suddenly from exhaustion, only to wake up as a newly appointed top scholar who spent more than a decade studying for the imperial examinations! He thinks he can live off his salary, slack off, lie flat, and enjoy life, but then discovers that the emperor of this world is the ultimate workaholic and an incurable overthinker!

Worse still, the emperor has a “Wise Ruler System” bound to him, and the “trigger” for its missions is none other than me, Wang Hengliu!

I try to retire and return to my hometown, but the emperor thinks I'm urging him to care for the realm and not settle for a life of pleasure.

[Ding! Eminent minister Wang Hengliu has issued a mission: Care for the realm. The Host (the emperor) must review memorials until dawn. Reward: 10 bags of potato seeds!]

I try to embezzle silver and get caught, but the emperor thinks I'm using sarcasm to advise him to crack down on corruption.

[Ding! Eminent minister Wang Hengliu has issued a mission: Audit the national treasury. The Host (the emperor) must thoroughly investigate corruption. Reward: Iron-smelting techniques!]

Wang Hengliu: “I really just want to resign and go home!”

The emperor, eyes bloodshot and tears in his eyes, grasps his hand: “My dear minister, I understand! Rest assured, with you keeping me in line, I will establish a glorious dynasty that lasts for generations!”

The civil and military officials of the entire court: “Minister Gu is truly noble! He devotes himself wholeheartedly to the country and its people. He is a model for us all!”

Wang Hengliu looks at his increasingly tall official hat and wants to cry. Help! I really just want to be a laid-back slacker!
