I Only Want to Die, but the Nation's Fortune Is Exploding

Yi Shiyan opened his eyes to find himself the notorious useless emperor of the Great Jing dynasty.

Facing the alluring empress dowager who had thrown the court into chaos, he blurted, “You want to rule from behind the curtain? Are you even qualified to hold the keys?”

He berated the literary-minded empress: “Writing poems about autumn sorrow? The disaster victims in the northwest don’t even have leaves to chew on!”

The System blared its alarms: [Warning! The emperor’s breakdown level is at 100%! The kingdom-ending finale is about to be triggered!]

But the next morning, a powerful minister suddenly died, corrupt officials had their estates seized, and the famine crisis was reversed.

Yi Shi, who had been determined to get himself killed, was completely baffled. “Wait, I’m trying this hard to get myself killed, and you’re all working even harder?”

At last, he flipped the table and roared, “If you’ve got the guts, rebel!”

The officials of the whole court dropped to their knees, weeping so loudly the heavens shook. “Your Majesty, please calm down! We are willing to die remonstrating with you. Please become a sage ruler for all eternity!”
