War of Resistance: This Collaborator Is So Fearsome, He Scared Li Yunlong Away

In 1939, Liu Chuan, a modern-day overworked office worker, accidentally transmigrates to the North China Plain during the war against Japan. When he encounters Japanese troops, he becomes bound to the Traitor System and is forced to act as a traitor. In reality, he must help the resistance indirectly by completing missions, or face punishment.

After winning the Japanese army's trust, he repeatedly causes trouble: when leaking the Eighth Route Army's supply routes, he leaves marks to warn them to change course, helping them avoid an ambush and capture weapons; when sabotaging the Independent Regiment's fortifications, he only does superficial damage, giving Li Yunlong an excuse to reinforce them; and when misleading the Japanese about where to launch their raids, he protects the Eighth Route Army's grain depots. The Independent Regiment repeatedly benefits from Japanese operations, and Li Yunlong gradually realizes Liu Chuan means well.

Liu Chuan is promoted for his “outstanding performance” and earns even greater trust from the Japanese, eventually gaining access to their arsenal. He passes intelligence to Li Yunlong, helping the Independent Regiment obtain a large amount of supplies. Along the way, his attempts to apply modern knowledge cause plenty of mishaps, but somehow end up helping the Eighth Route Army.

In 1943, the puppet soldier Zhang Ergou informs on him, but Liu Chuan works with Li Yunlong to outwit the danger. In 1944, he obtains the Japanese army's plan for its “Autumn Sweep” and risks his life to pass on the intelligence, helping the Eighth Route Army foil the offensive.

When Japan surrenders in 1945, Liu Chuan helps take possession of Japanese supplies and expose enemy agents. Li Yunlong clears his name, and headquarters wants to award him an honor, but Liu Chuan chooses to disappear into obscurity, bringing his extraordinary career as a “traitor” in the resistance to an end.
