Buddha’s Grace: The Lord’s Beloved

Lin Wei is sent by her family to Puning Temple to pray for blessings, but she is the only one who doesn’t fit in with its strict rules.

The temple’s Buddha Lord, Xuan Yan, is aloof and ascetic, yet he slips into her courtyard every night, sandalwood clinging to him as he kisses her deeply.

By chance, she obtains a jade pendant that can sense his emotional shifts, revealing the obsession he has kept hidden for three years.

By day, he avoids her like the plague. By night, he pulls her into his arms, his possessiveness spiraling out of control.

People say she has disturbed the temple’s peace, never realizing that he has already broken his vows for her.

She wears the jade pendant like a talisman. His gaze burns as he says, “You’re mine.”

When the abbot demands that he sever his feelings and renounce desire, he kneels in the Buddha hall for three days and nights, all to keep her.

In the trials of the mortal world, he sheds his monk’s robes and enters secular life, all so he can spend his life with her.

At last, at the temple gate, he kisses her in front of everyone and declares to the world, “For her, I’ll gladly immerse myself in this mortal world.”
