New Taiyan: May All Your Wishes Come True

Their separation half a year ago felt like a mountain and a sea between them. Ertai and Xiao Yanzi finally reunited in Nanyang. The feelings they had kept buried broke through every obstacle, and the two married. He became the prefect of Dengzhou, and she his wife, and together they built a home in the place they governed. During their years in office, they explored every street and alley of Dengzhou together, fought floods and other disasters, and endured the people's hardships side by side. Their bond, forged through adversity, grew ever stronger through the storms. They thought they would spend the rest of their lives in peace, until an old case forced them to return to the capital to set things straight. They never expected their trip to the capital to uncover an unforeseen truth. The shock damaged Xiao Yanzi's heart, and she soon passed away. With his beloved gone and nothing left to bind him to this world, Ertai took his own life to follow her. All that remained were the warmth of their years in Dengzhou and the sorrow of the capital's windswept streets, lingering like a song.
