The Journey to the West Finance Department

Years after their successful journey to the Western Heaven, Tang Sanzang and his three disciples had all attained Buddhahood and sagehood, and were living the carefree lives they had imagined. Yet the Buddha Tathagata, CEO of the Lingshan Group, suddenly issued an audit notice: there were serious irregularities in the funds used for the pilgrimage project! To deal with the crisis, Tang Sanzang was appointed in the nick of time to establish the “Journey to the West Finance Department.” He dragged along the very reluctant Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie, who only wanted to return to Gao Village, and Sha Wujing, whose answer was always “Master is right,” and set out on a hilarious, exasperating journey across the Three Realms to “collect debts” and “balance the books.” Their mission: track down the “creditors” they had encountered along the way, mostly demons, and recover the “emergency favors” that had gone over budget, compensation for damaged public property, and all sorts of expenses that defied explanation! An uproarious adventure more difficult, more absurd, and more down-to-earth than the pilgrimage itself!
