Reborn, I Used the Mirror of Cause and Effect to Strike Back

She was Shen Yunzhao, the legitimate daughter of the Chancellor’s household, a prodigy whose talent and reputation outshone everyone in the capital. In her previous life, she believed in love with all her heart and helped her fiancé, Xiao Jingheng, rise from a poor scholar to the Regent, whose power overshadowed the court. Yet on the very day he ascended the throne, he branded her a woman who usurped a man’s authority and manipulated the court. With a single imperial decree, he sentenced her to death, confined her to the cold palace, and forced her to drink poison. Only as she lay dying did she learn that she had been nothing but a pawn. He had been secretly involved with her half-sister, Shen Wanrou, all along, and she had served as nothing more than a stepping stone. When she opened her eyes again, she was sixteen, back at the spring banquet, where peach blossoms blazed and her fate had yet to change. This time, she would no longer give her heart to the wrong man or swallow humiliation in silence. On the very night she burned the keepsakes from her past life and vowed to live anew, a bolt of heavenly lightning struck the ancient locust tree in the courtyard. After she blacked out, she awakened the Karma Mirror, a mysterious golden artifact that could reveal the course of another person’s fate, foresee good and ill fortune over the next three days, and even briefly rewrite the threads of cause and effect. She began to set her plans in motion.
