The Final Fog: The Criminal Syndicate's Last Showdown

The city’s undercurrents churn on a rainy night. Newly appointed genius detective Lin Yunmo has barely taken on a series of murders targeting wealthy people when he unexpectedly partners with the mysterious forensic pathologist Su Li. As their investigation deepens, they discover that all the victims are connected to an unsolved case from twenty years ago, and the clues point straight to Lin Yunmo’s father, who disappeared years ago.

A museum theft leads to a transnational crime syndicate. While pursuing the case, Lin Yunmo learns that his father may have been the real culprit behind the old mystery. A doctor at a psychiatric hospital vanishes without a trace, and the truth about Lin Yunmo’s origins gradually comes to light, while Su Li’s concealed identity casts an even deeper shadow over the case. Their superior is kidnapped, evidence emerges of collusion between the crime syndicate and senior police officials, and a key witness is murdered just before giving testimony. The truth slips through their fingers time and again.

When Lin Yunmo finally closes in on the truth about his father’s death and faces off in a final showdown against the crime syndicate’s leader, Boss Wu, and Captain Chen, a man who is neither wholly good nor wholly evil, the line between justice and revenge begins to blur. What price lies hidden in this mystery spanning twenty years? The open ending of Chapter 500 leaves the pursuit of truth in the dead of night unresolved.
