The Return of the Medical Sage: Zhang Zhongjing's Practice in the Modern City

Zhang Zhongjing, the Eastern Han dynasty's Sage of Medicine, accidentally transmigrates to a modern city. His traditional Han clothing and “strange” behavior draw crowds wherever he goes. When an elderly man suffers a sudden medical emergency on the street, Zhang Zhongjing instinctively rushes to help. A piece of ginger and a few acupressure techniques produce astonishing results. The video goes viral, but also gets him into trouble for “practicing medicine without a license.” Director Li of the provincial hospital recognizes his talent and, against all opposition, hires him under special dispensation.

In the clinic, Zhang Zhongjing treats modern illnesses with ancient methods: he tells patients with mouth ulcers to eat ginger, prescribes congee for insomnia, and helps children with eczema by strengthening their spleen and stomach. His remedies are simple, remarkably effective, and inexpensive, turning his colleagues' skepticism into amazement. Just as he begins to win recognition, several patients with unusually severe cold symptoms catch his attention. The damp, turbid energy in their pulses bears a striking resemblance to the early signs of an epidemic described in Treatise on Cold Damage!

A battle against an epidemic, combining the wisdom of the ancient and modern worlds and drawing the attention of many, is about to begin. See how the Sage of Medicine practices without a license and heals with compassion, writing a new legend in a modern city!
