Reborn in 1976: I Pick Up Whatever Treasures I Want

In the winter of 1976, Shougang worker Zheng Chunsheng opened his eyes amid the blaze of a boiler explosion. He had been reborn in an era when cultural relics lay forgotten in the dust. The lump of copper at the salvage yard was a Han dynasty paperweight; the battered wooden box in the corner of a warehouse hid a Qing dynasty imperial edition; even the old jacket at a secondhand clothing factory had belonged to a scholar who passed the imperial examinations during the Kangxi era. In his previous life, he spent his whole life barely handling a few fakes. This time, armed with foreknowledge, he would recover the treasures scattered among the people, one by one! But trouble was never far away. His childhood friend Cha Weidong envied his good fortune and kept trying to trip him up. The Japanese woman Matsushima Natsuo put on a gentle act while plotting to smuggle cultural relics out of the country. And Liu San, a local hoodlum, blocked his way in the hutongs with a steel pipe, trying to steal his antiques. Zheng Chunsheng tapped the blue-and-white jar he had just dug out of a pile of salvage and smiled. The “Made in the Kangxi Reign” mark on the bottom was blurry, but the glaze had an unmistakably antique look. In this life, he would protect treasures with one hand and beat up scoundrels with the other. The pomegranate tree in the courtyard would stand beside the collection he donated to the country, and Liu Lu, who understood him, would be by his side. No one would be allowed to ruin the things left behind by their ancestors!
